OK, this is as good as it gets!. Yes, this is the radio used to make the homepage you just came from. This is the second one of these we have done this to; Every once in a while we like to do a "money is no object" radio so everyone can do their best work on a gorgeous set, regardless of how long it takes. On most radios we have to look at the probable selling price versus the quantity and quality of work we can afford to put in - but not on this one! A while back we did one of these this way, and we all liked it and it was bid up to a good dollar, so we decided to do another. It is the one on my homepage because we felt this radio, besides being the most attractive deco radio you will ever see, also really shows off all of our many craftsmen's talents. It has the best of paint, polish, assembly, electronics restoration, wood working and finishing, custom made knobs and pushbuttons, and probably more skills I can't think of. If anything we went further this time than last. What we have done with this radio is take it apart to the last piece; every part, every screw and rivet. Then every part was processed through our shop to make it as best as it could be. ALL metal parts were polished to a bright shiny finish. They were all reassembled just like originally, and moving parts were freshly lubricated. We even re-riveted the tube sockets with NOS (new old stock) rivets! The chassis was rewired with NOS fabric covered wire, all new resistors and capacitors under the chassis and a new reproduction AC cord. The bottom wood of the cabinet was replaced with an exact copy made in oak and finished with hand rubbed lacquer!
